How to get to the wedding venue
In summary: Athens Airport - Marathonos Avenue - Kato Souli - Agia Marina - Nea Styra - Villa Delenia.
From Athens International airport, head to the ferry port of „Agia Marina, Marathonos“. It’s around a one-hour drive from the airport. Taxis from the airport will take you all the way there, or you can rent a car at the airport (see info on cars below).
If you’re hiring a car, directions to the villa are here.
Getting to the villa from Agia Marina ferry port
From the port of Agia Marina it’s a 45-minute ferry ride to Nea Styra, on the island of Evia. The ferry costs around 4 euros per passenger and around 16 euros per car (prices may increase in the summer).
Ferries start running at around 8am and stop running overnight – the last one is around 9pm in the summer (timetables vary according to the month, and the day of the week). We will link to a timetable here once it's available.
There is also access to Nea Styra via the Chalkida bridge from the mainland, so even if you are arriving in Athens in the night, it is possible to drive the whole way.
For those who are staying at the villa but not renting a car, we can arrange to pick you up from the ferry port at Nea Styra. Please WhatsApp us your flight info with flight number before you start your journey.
Cars – is it necessary to rent them?
Cars are not essential if you are not planning on exploring the island. If you do hire cars, please make sure they have plenty of clearance from the ground as the last 2 kms to Delenia is a dirt track with plenty of pot holes (4X4 not essential, but a high SUV is a good option). Please ensure it is manual rather than automatic and petrol rather than diesel – you will need lots of engine power to get up the last hill.
Our villa host recommends hiring cars from Athens airport – all major companies have a presence there. You can take the hire cars on the ferry (16 euros per car, 4 euros per person – 45 mins ferry ride).
Hotel accommodation
The hotel we’re recommending is the Sunday Boutique Hotel on Evia: https://www.sunday-hotel.gr/en/
Some of our guests are already booked in here, so we will arrange pickups for everyone who needs transport from the hotel to the villa on the wedding day.
Dress code
We expect it to be hot! So if you prefer not to wear a suit-jacket to the ceremony, that’s fine. Since the wedding will be outdoors in a grassy area, you might wish to avoid high heels.
(A note from Marija: all dress colours are welcome - the more colourful the better!)
And if you’re staying in Greece for a few days, don’t forget sun hats and swimming gear!
Things to do in Evia
Nearby towns are Karystos and Eretria, and there is also the Dimosari Gorge if you wish to go for a hike; fishing and boat trips are also possible.
